An Extensive Visual History of Dakota Johnson's Standout Red Carpet Style
Thanks to her famous parents, Dakota Johnson has had over two decades of red carpet experience, so it’s no surprise that the actress has absolutely perfected her look over the years. From her time on the Fifty Shades press circuit to her many trips to the Met Gala, the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson knows how to work a red carpet. And while she’s worn many brands over the years, her loyalty to Gucci’s former creative director Alessandro Michele has paid off.
In between her Gucci wears, though, the actress has also gravitated towards brands like Versace, Valentino, Dior, and Saint Laurent, among others. And considering that Johnson seemingly always has a new project to promote, there’s never a lack of red carpet moments to keep us entertained. Johnson has long been a proponent of the LBD, but this LRD (Little Red Dress) from Tom Ford certainly made a statement at the Mexico City premiere of Madame Web.
All eyes were on Johnson (and her Madame Web co-star Sydney Sweeney) at the film’s L.A. premiere. The actress cut a daring figure in this sheer naked dress from Gucci that she paired with Messika jewels.
The actress mastered the art of method dressing with this custom Annie’s Ibiza webbed look that she slipped into for a Vogue Brazil event.
Johnson looked buttoned up during a London Madame Web photo call in this cropped suit set from Versace.
Departing from her usual Gucci wears, Johnson went with a fish motif kaftan dress from New York brand Bode. She did, however, later add on a leather shoulder bag from the Italian brand and completed the ensemble with a pair of woven Bottega Veneta mules.
Johnson looked like she was plucked straight from the ’70s in this semi-sheer crochet maxi dress that she sported for the 2023 Telluride Film Festival.
The actress was every bit of her “La Dolce Vita” self in this bombshell Versace number for a 2023 Martini celebration in Milan, Italy.
For Gucci’s picturesque runway presentation in Seoul, South Korea, the actress’ monochrome look mixed lace, leather, and sequins in a big way.
The star again opted for lace, this time in the form of a monogram bodysuit, for Gucci’s Milanese runway show. She rounded things out with a coordinating blazer, mini skirt, and knee-high boots.
Denim, denim, and more denim was at the top of Johnson’s to-do list for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival when she attended the event in a bustier, jeans, and oversized coat.
Johnson opted for an Area mini blazer dress and Jimmy Choo heels for the premiere of Cha Cha Real Smooth at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival.
Of course, Johnson was part of the Gucci crew at the 2022 Met Gala, wearing a crystal-encrusted lace bodysuit to the event.
