“My suitcases are covered in stickers. I bought this one without knowing what it said. My friend told me it reads ‘I Love Tokyo.’ I think it’s going on my phone. It needs a privileged place.”

“Zac Posen recommended this store called Cow Books. It’s a tiny shop, and I only found it because it has this cow in front (above). I still don’t know why it’s called Cow Books. I love the Japanese, but they are really bizarre.”

“I was in a mall in Tokyo, and there were all these Harajuku girls, so I asked to take a picture with one of them—and five came over. They’re like living dolls, even in their attitude.”

“While I was in Japan, I used this bracelet by the designer Wilfredo Rosado at a shoot. It’s made of gold, diamonds, and feathers. If you had a couple of these on, you could fly away.”

“The Dover Street Market also has a vending machine that sells T-shirts [left]. I kept seeing this one [far left] that looks like a Damien Hirst sculpture—except instead of medicine there’s soda.”

“This 100-year-old kimono was a find at a really traditional store. The lady there tied the back into a bow like I’ve never seen before. I wanted to wear it in Cannes, but I couldn’t because I didn’t have her with me!”
