“It was the end of the night at the Met Costume Institute Gala, and my shoes, which were Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda and made of 18-karat gold, were killing me. So I took them off and walked barefoot through the museum. Suddenly I heard a voice behind me say, ‘This is so La Dolce Vita!’ It was Pedro Almodóvar. We pretended we were talking on the phone with my shoes. So now I can say I met him over the phone!”

“At the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc there were flowers everywhere [above]. They were so over-the- top, they reminded me of a Jeff Koons art piece. Can you tell which is which? Here’s a hint: The Koons is in a plain white vase.”

“It gets pretty chilly at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes—where the jewelry house de Grisogono threw a party during the Cannes Film Festival—so they gave the guests these gold wraps, like the ones marathoners use. Jessica Hart [far left], Julia Restoin Roitfeld [near left], and I impersonated Charlie’s Angels.”

“My sister, Sara, got a pair of kittens for her birthday, so now I’m an auntie. She named them Linda and Cindy, like the supermodels, because they love luxurious things. They are such fashion divas!”

“Carlotta E. Tabaroni is a stylist in Milan who makes necklaces, like this one, in her spare time. It’s great, no? Very Chanel meets Moschino in Morocco. And it’s all one piece. By the way, that’s her modeling it in the photo. What a cool look-book concept.”

“These taxi flats from Kate Spade are so cute—the perfect New York shoe. And maybe if I click my heels three times while wearing them, a taxi will appear!”

“Colored fur was all over the fall runways, from Michael Kors’s camouflage coats to Fendi’s striped and patchwork toppers. One of the most eccentric takes on the trend was Chanel’s blue fur hat [left]— it looks like a very chic bob!”
