Glitter Bug
What a Mouthful
On the Rodarte fall 2014 runway, glitter was everywhere: glimmering on coats, woven into turtlenecks, sparkling on kneesocks, and—perhaps most alluring—twinkling on models’ lips. Kaliardos whipped up “an ’80s-fairy-tale-movie look” for the occasion. “It was about the nostalgia of watching those princess movies when you were a kid,” says the makeup artist, who re-created the shimmery dusty rose lip color here by infusing Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique with pink, brown, and gold glitter. “We really had to pile it on, and using the different shades helped get us there,” Kaliardos explains. “That’s the funny thing about glitter on lips: It can be nearly invisible in a lip gloss, or it can be superintense.” We vote for the latter.
