Getting Ready With Liu Wen and Zac Posen Before the 2017 Tony Awards
It is not every day that you get invited to attend the Tony Awards. So when Zac Posen asked supermodel Liu Wen to accompany him to this year’s festivities, she couldn’t pass it up. Never mind the fact that she was in Shanghai up into about four hours before the show. Wen arrived at Posen’s studio straight off the plane, ready to get dressed for the night ahead. “I feel like a princess,” she said, looking at herself in the mirror and the voluminous gown the designer had selected for her to wear. “You see, Zac is the perfect date for the Tony’s because his dresses are drama. Wearing a Zac dress is a form of theater. Plus wherever you go with him, you never get bored.” Posen himself is a bit of a theater aficionado, which also certainly helps. . “I’ve been going to Broadway my entire life,” he said. “It’s one of the great things that make New York incredible. And in my whole time going to the theater I have never seen such energy the way Broadway has on the streets right now. I mean, every night, the streets are buzzing with excitement around performers and productions and it’s exciting.” Here, a look at the pair as they prepared for the night ahead.
