BOYS! BOYS! BOYS!

Meet the Top 10 Breakout Male Models of 2016

by Biel Parklee and Emilia Petrarca

It was a big year for curly-haired boys, from the blonde sweetheart Dillon Westbrock to the Australian singer Tre Samuels. Of course, there were also plenty of Danish boys, too, plus Victor Ndigwe from Nigeria, Wang Chenming from China, and Sup Park from Korea. At the menswear shows, at least, diversity abound. Here, get to know the top new guys.

In addition to modeling for our Second/Layer photoshoot, this blondie also walked Alexander Wang, Versace, and Off-White. Plus, he posed for a Calvin Klien campaign.

We’ve had our eye on Finnlay for some time, but this year he hit his stride by walking Tom Ford, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and landing a Coach campaign.

Because of his unique look, Max was able to land a wide range of brands, from Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger, to Dior Homme, Louis Vuitton, J.W. Anderson, Prada, and Coach.

Sup has been in the industry for a few years, but now he’s become a bit of a local celebrity at Seoul Fashion Week in his home country of Korea.

Originally from Africa, Victor had a breakout year in Europe, walking Dries Van Noten, Balmain, Fendi, and even managing to wear heels at the DSquared2 show.

This Danish boy was one of the stars of Tim Walker’s “To Denmark, With Love” spread in W magazine, but also had a good year on the runway, walking all the major European shows.

Wang is one of the biggest faces to come out of China this year and had perhaps his top runway moment yet when he walked for Gucci Spring 2017.

William Los

William Los had great seasons in New York, walking Todd Synder, Thom Browne. And in Europe: Balmain, Versace, and Emporio Armani. His sever buzz cut is perfectly paired with piercing blue eyes.

We fell in love with Tre Samuels at the begging of this year for his bouncy curls. And then he continued to wow us when he not only walked all the major shows, but also premiered his music video on W magazine.

Originally from Germany, Leon has the ultimate European look, and walked Lanvin, Dries Van Noten, Marni, Craig Green, and many more shows this year.
