Real or Faux, New York Fashion Week Street Style Is All About Fur and Leather
The beginning of the 10-day long extravaganza that is this season's extra-large New York Fashion Week—for fall 2018, the women's shows immediately followed the men's, kicking off this Thursday—brought us balaclavas and man berets. Now, however, they have some competition for the most out-there street style oddities—like a leather corset-slash-belt worn as a top layer, almost as eye-grabbing as the blindingly neon wigs showcased at Jeremy Scott on models like Slick Woods and Gigi Hadid. For the most part, though, the outerwear has been fairly practical for February: There are the requisite puffer coats—even if some only provide coverage as far down as your belly button this season—as well as shearlings and furs, the latter of which, if the trend at Gucci and Tom Ford is anything to go by, are likely fake. Judge for yourself with a look at the best and strangest street style out there so far, here.
