A Look Back at the Wildest, Most Star-Studded Summer Bashes During Surf Lodge’s First 10 Years
Ask anyone: if you’re in Montauk, there is only one place to be on a summer night: the Surf Lodge. The hotel-slash-bar-slash-restaurant is the South Fork’s most frequented hot spot for celebrities and locals alike, with a line snaking outside the entrance weekend after weekend—an amazing feat considering this year the boîte celebrated its tenth anniversary. Founded by Jayma Cardoso and Robert McKinley in 2007, the Surf Lodge has attracted countless celebrities over the years—including Claire Danes, Solange, and Alexa Chung, among others—who are drawn to the spot’s laid back, let loose feel. This season alone, the weekend crowd has included frequent visitors Ashley Benson, Nina Agdal and boyfriend Jack Brinkley Cook, as well as both Malia Obama and Tiffany Trump. Another draw of the waterfront property? The countless art shows and weekly concerts, which bring out some of the biggest names in music, including Patti Smith, the Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis, and, as of last week, Lauryn Hill.
