Beyoncé Officially Joins the Cast of Disney’s Live-Action “Lion King”

Alongside Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver.

On Wednesday, after an unbelievably long period of teasing, The Lion King‘s full cast was finally unveiled by Disney. For those who aren’t aware, the beloved animated film is getting a live-action remake, and was already confirmed to feature the likes of Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, and John Oliver as Zazu. After much speculation, the entertainment conglomerate revealed that the one and only Beyoncé has been cast in the role of Nala.

Naturally, the Beyhive has flooded Twitter with enthusiasm, but Beyoncé’s cast mates have shown their excitement, as well. “Beyonce and I have an announcement to make…” John Oliver casually wrote. Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, meanwhile, broke out two simple emojis to get their message across.

This re-envisioned Lion King, which is directed by Jon Favreau, will be released sometime in 2019. You’ll just have to watch the iconic original film in the meantime.
