Gallic fashion is on display in a duo of exhibits. For those who missed the premiere of “Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective” at Paris’s Petit Palais in 2010, the show is at the Denver Art Museum March 25 through July 8. Among the 200 garments on view are the designer’s original 1966 le smoking, which revolutionized women’s eveningwear, and sweeping couture ensembles like the one at left from 1983. Innovation is also at play in “Louis Vuitton–Marc Jacobs,” at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in paris March 9 through September 16. The exhibition paints a portrait of the house’s namesake founder as well as of Marc Jacobs, its current artistic director.
