IDEA Books, David Owen and Angela Hill’s rare book business (and Instagram phenomenon) has been part of Dover Street Market’s original London location for 10 years. Now, they’re bringing their trove of cool tomes to the boutique’s New York location. IDEA, which debuted Stateside in January, will follow the boutique’s model of unveiling a new “mini-shop” of product every season. The New York space opened with an assemblage of Comme des Garçons books, is currently displaying its greatest hits (including volumes on Chloe Sevigny, Corinne Day, and Jodie Foster), and has a special collection of Juergen Teller books coming later this month. “I think if you said to someone, ‘Oh there’s cool books in Dover Street Market New York,’ they’d go, ‘Oh yeah? You can find cool books online, there are cool things on Instagram.’ It doesn’t necessarily drive you in there,” Owens says. “But if you said, ‘There’s the largest collection of Comme des Garçons books ever put on sale’ then they might go check that out!”
