Jennifer Lawrence Is Here to Remind You that She’s a Red Carpet Expert

The Oscar winner opts for a very festive, very retro Dolce & Gabbana look in Berlin.

In Jennifer Lawrence’s space travel debut, Passengers, the Oscar-winning actress and blockbuster superstar plays a journalist put into stasis for a 120-year trip from Earth to another planet — but she’s awakened 90 years before arrival, as is fellow traveler Chris Pratt. As they get their bearings in outer space, they realize that their premature rise is a symptom of bigger problems in the vessel shepherding them away from Earth. Cue the escape plan.

For the film’s press tour — it opens just before Christmas — Lawrence has taken the opportunity to show off a new stellar (pun very intended), sparkling aesthetic. Glitter is perfect for both outer space and the holidays. Earlier this week, it was a star-patterned sweater and tulle skirt, part of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s ethereal first collection for Dior. But for the most recent photo opp, at the Berlin photocall, Lawrence went more retro than space age in a polka-dotted Dolce & Gabbana set, paired with Louboutin stilettos, sultry eyes, and beachy waves. It’s a winning look.

Who: Jennifer Lawrence.

When: Thursday, December 1.

Where: A photocall for her new film Passengers with Chris Pratt at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin, Germany.

What: A polka-dotted, body-con midi skirt and cropped bustier, both by Dolce & Gabbana, with pointy-toed Christian Louboutin lace pumps.

Why: From Dior to Proenza Schouler to Dolce & Gabbana, Lawrence hasn’t been afraid to experiment with different looks throughout the Passengers press tour. Here, she sports coordinating, but not matching, polka dots, updating an otherwise quite retro look via different arrangements of dots and a two-piece silhouette. The actress’s hair and makeup bring the whole look together: beachy, ombre waves and a nude glossy lip complement the somewhat casual, crop-top and midi-skirt look, while a black, dark-rimmed smoky eye is all red carpet glamour. It’s an expert-level look to try as the holidays approach.
