Marc Jacobs Fall 2015’s Elegant Swans

Backstage beauty tips from the pros.

For his Fall 2015 collection, Marc Jacobs took on Diana Vreeland as his muse. To bring the legendary fashion editor’s perfectly imperfect style to life, hairstylist Guido Palau swept the hair into a knot—right at the top of the forehead—and left a few pieces sticking out, using Redken Control Addict as a base and Guts to secure the shape. “Dragging the hair up this way accentuates the neck,” Palau says. Keeping with the kooky, swan-like elegance, makeup artist Francois Nars left the face pale and powdery, emphasizing the mascara-free eyes with glossy gray lids and defined brows. As for the easily drawn eggplant colored lips—with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu—Nars says, “the intensity is important, it should look real… it’s more like a signal.” For the nails, manicurist Jin Soon Choi painstakingly created a “week-old” red manicure, leaving the half moon bare, as if the nails had grown out. Some models were given Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Poison Apple; others were given White Snow. The two new shades were created exclusively for the collection, and will be available this fall.
