Natalie Ludwig Has Found the Perfect Traveling Mud Mask

But she’d like someone to teach her how to do a smoky eye, please.

Natalie Ludwig

Model Natalie Ludwig is constantly on the go — we caught up with her just after she arrived in Paris last week, and she was already planning to jet off the Milan the next day. Having grown up in a bustling six-person family, she has had to adjust to the frequent alone time that comes with her new jet-set lifestyle, she said, but she borrows her best beauty secrets from her brother, actor Alexander Ludwig, and her mom (who also lends her a few key pieces from her enviable vintage wardrobe). Ludwig manages to stay fresh-faced and alert, even on two hours of sleep, and here, she shares her beauty tips and tricks for the woman in transit.

Your look in three words: Classic, edgy, and original.

Medicine cabinet snapshot: I like to keep things simple, so I love using Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple cleanser every morning and night. Organic Argan Oil is my favorite thing to keep my skin soft and healthy.

A good hair day starts with: With modeling, I don’t always have time to do my full hair routine, so dry shampoo has become a staple in my bag. Drybar makes a great one that smells amazing and doesn’t leave your roots looking chalky. When I do wash my hair, I always use Lani’s Tropical Hair Treatment. The scent brings me back to being in Maui and leaves my hair so soft.

Makeup miracles: My mom has always been my beauty inspiration, so I have inherited all of my must haves from her. My favorites include: the Bobbi Brown under-eye cream, Chanel moisturizer, and Clinique sunscreen (with at least an SPF of 30!).

Nails must be: I definitely grew up loving super bright nails, and I still do! However, a neon pink isn’t always practical when you have a last minute event. Because of that, I have been loving Essie’s Barbados Blue, it’s the perfect color for summer.

Sheet mask or mud mask: Oh, mud for sure. Travel makes my skin freakout a little bit, and since my job requires lots of flying, I needed to find something to help me out. Glamglow makes a mask that is the greatest thing in the world, I can apply it at the beginning of my flight and since it’s clear it doesn’t make me look like a monster. I just land with super happy and moisturized skin.

Bronze or blush: Anyone who knows me will know the answer to this one — Bronzer. I have always loved looking sun kissed, so Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder helps me look glowy, not orange.

Beauty from the inside out: I’m not too fussy when it comes to my diet, I just know what makes me feel good. Saying that, I eat a mainly plant-based diet and try to eat whole foods whenever possible. It just makes me feel so much better. Oh, and water=my best friend.

Exercise obsession: I love starting my day with The Bar Method, plus a good sweat at either Gotham Gym or The Dog Pound in New York.

Drink of choice: Kombucha, it always gives me energy when I need it.

Product that you borrow from the boys: I always steal my brother’s texturing paste. It gets rid of flyaways, plus I love the scent of it.

Product that you picked up from the pros: One of my best friends is a makeup junkie , so she got me hooked on the Beauty Blender. It blends everything so perfectly and keeps my makeup looking natural.

A woman should smell like: Daisy by Marc Jacobs — I love how refreshing it smells.

Appointment you’d love to nab: Joanna Vargas, an amazing facialist in New York.

Your most searing beauty Q: Definitely how to do a good smoky eye! I haven’t quite mastered the “night out” look since I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup.

Definite doppelgänger: Blake Lively, I think that she has such a classic beauty and she really inspires my everyday style. Oh, and being married to Ryan Reynolds wouldn’t suck either. [Laughs]
