It looks like there is going to be two royal weddings in 2018. Monday morning, Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Eugenie, the 27-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is engaged to Jack Brooksbank. The two, who have dated for several years after meeting while skiing, became engaged earlier this month in Nicaragua, according to a statement from the royal family. In the past couple of weeks, plans for the wedding have already begun: The ceremony will take place in the fall of 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor—the same place where Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018.

Princess Eugenie and her fiancé were photographed in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace shortly following the announcement, and gave the public a first look at her gorgeous pink ring, a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Eugenie, who is eighth in line to the throne, will reportedly keep her royal title and will have the option to take his surname if she wishes. She currently works as an art gallery director at Hauser and Wirth. Her mother, Sarah Ferguson, took to Twitter to express just how happy she is about the upcoming nuptials. “We love Jack and I am so excited to have a son, a brother, and a best friend. Eugenie is one of the finest people I know and so together it will be pure harmony,” she wrote over a black and white photo of the couple. “I always say that the river flows well to it’s [sic] destiny because of the guidance of a solid rock,” she added,

Time will tell how involved Meghan Markle will be in Princess Eugenie’s wedding. As Prince Harry’s cousin, Eugenie will be a celebrated guest at his wedding and will likely be taking notes for her own ceremony just a few months later. See the announcement and engagement photos, below.
