On Thursday, Condé Nast announced its plan to sponsor scholarships for five Italian university students in the fields of fashion, art, journalism, and film. W’s editor-in-chief, Stefano Tonchi, a native Italian, will select one recipient for the W Art scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. “There have been so many cuts that we noticed how many institutions need help,” Tonchi told CNN’s Alina Cho as he spoke of Italy’s ailing economy.
