Balmain Fall 2020, Coming to a Kardashian-Jenner Near You
Balmain‘s extensive network of celebrity fans was on display at the label’s fall 2020 Paris Fashion Week show: Usher and Janelle Monae joined Shailene Woodley, Audrey Tatou, and Evan Mock in the front row to see Olivier Rousteing‘s designs. Curiously missing from the crowd, however, were his die-hard buddies, the Kardashian-Jenners. Kim, Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall et. al have long supported Rousteing’s career at the French house, and this season, their vibe was all over the clothing. Leather bustiers seemed tailor-made for Kim Kardashian-West‘s red carpet inclinations, as did full-body latex suits and matching jackets. Hermès-esque equestrian prints on silks signified a level of peak horse girl. Pumped-up suits in Crayola colors of red, white, and black, called to mind vintage Chanel, and reflected the ’80s shoulder pad trend that’s prevailed during fashion month. The models on the runway also added to Balmain’s star cache—some supers including Liya Kebede and Helena Christensen were among them.
