High Art: The Best of Drone Photography

Drone Photography

In partnership with National Geographic, Dronestagram – the aptly titled version of Instagram for drone enthusiasts – organized its third International Drone Photography Contest, full of contestants with an entirely new standard of engineering their grams: Many location scout on Google Maps, and some monitor the weather – and even volcanic sulfur emissions – all in pursuit of the perfect shot. Six thousand such aerially minded individuals submitted their best images, and nine winners were ultimately selected in categories of nature, adventure, and travel photography, covering everything from Umbrian cloud forms to Australian camels to sunbathers on the coast of Spain.
