It’s been a big couple of weeks over at the venerable House of Dior. After the label launched a new campaign and named A$AP Rocky the new face of Dior Homme (Rocky’s been making the fashion rounds lately, appearing with Alessandro Michele at Gucci Cruise and then collaborating with Jonathan Anderson on a capsule collection), multiple outlets broke the news that Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri would migrate over to Christian Dior as creative director of womenswear, to replace the post Raf Simons vacated in October. All of the bustle doesn’t seem to have bothered Kris Van Assche much, for his Dior Homme Spring 2017 collection, which debuted at Paris Men’s Saturday, was as precise and clean as ever. (Rocky was also in attendance.) There were the neat, slender suits — a Dior Homme staple season after season — and nods to streetwear with sneakers and bomber jackets. Mesh tops, sleeveless suit jackets, and body harnesses that could have been pulled from the club kid playbook got a Van Assche upgrade, too.
