Since starting her musical career in the early nineties, Mary J. Blige has won a total of nine Grammy Awards, with a record 30 nominations. But at 46 years-old, she’s also always been a style icon, both on the
red carpet and on stage. Even in the ’90s, she was setting the trends, not following them. She always matches her color palette from head-to-toe—even if that color was metallic—and is never seen without sunglasses. (She did the tinted lenses trend before Instagram was even invented.) Depending on the decade, she’ll either do sneakers or knee-high boots as accessories with a pair of large hoop earrings and the best accessory of all: a major award. So, in addition to her winning music, the musician-turned-actress’s best and boldest style moments through the years deserve a closer look as well.
