Despite not making an appearance at the 2017 Grammys on Sunday night in Los Angeles, Drake still made his presence known. No, he didn't arrive arm-in-arm with his rumored new girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, who looked dreamy in Ralph and Russo Couture on the red carpet. But he did send Chance the Rapper numerous congratulation texts, which Chance then promptly posted on Instagram. "I am in Manchester having a drink for you broski," he wrote in all-caps. Ah, so that's where he was hiding! In the meantime, Chance had 121 other texts to respond to, but decided to write Drake a heartfelt reply back. The moment felt like sweet revenge following Macklemore's lackluster apology text to Kendrick Lamar in 2014. And yet, once again, even the biggest winners of the night felt they couldn't accept their awards. When Adele won for 'Album of the Year,' she made a tearful dedication to Beyoncé, whose performance that night was an "actual religious experience."
Beyoncé, always one to maintain her poise in trying situations, was avenged by her fiery younger sister, Solange, who tweeted a link to Frank Ocean's Tumblr post about why he was boycotting the Grammys this year immediately following the winner's announcement. "Wuddup Frank," she wrote. And that was enough.
Chrissy Teigen also responded to the situation similar to the way everyone at home was feeling that night: "Beyonce killed me Adele gave me life I'm confused."
If one thing was made clear last night, it's that when award shows like the Grammys fail us—social media can be the saving grace. See the best tweets and Instagrams from the night below, including Schoolboy Q and his daughter, who wore an amazing Gucci look to the show while her dad stood beside her in a pink "Girl power" hoodie. Now that's merch we can get behind.
