Things aren't what they seem for Villanelle.

Need something to look forward to? Thankfully, the third season of Killing Eve is almost upon us, and after a number of short teasers, a full trailer for the Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer-starring series has finally dropped.

The clip opens with Villanelle having taken on the odd job of children’s birthday clown (in a backyard that reminds us strangely of the Parasite house). Naturally, she really leans into the scary aspect of clownery. The children are terrified.

Though, soon we find that our international hit woman, under the impression that Eve is no more, is having a great time and “moving up in the world.” She’s got a new closet full of great clothes and, apparently, a fancy new chateau. “I am so much happier now she’s dead,” she says.

Though, as it turns out, Eve is still very much alive. This quickly puts a damper on Villanelle’s current self-improvement vibes, and the mind games begin again in full swing.

There’s also a short Elton John homage amidst all of this that we can’t wait to see play out in context.

After season one was run by creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and season two was handed off to Emerald Fennell, Suzanne Heathcote takes over as show runner for the new batch of episodes. A former writer for Fear the Walking Dead and producer on Apple TV+’s See, Heathcote undoubtedly knows how to boil up the tension.

Season 3 is set to premier April 12th on BBC America. If you somehow still haven’t seen the first two seasons, they’re available on Hulu. You likely have plenty of time to catch up at the moment.
