How do you survive a long flight and still look effortlessly chic when you step off the plane? Do you even prefer planes or would you rather Blade? Few know the answers better to these tough queries than New York City-based designer Misha Nonoo, who always seems to be hopscotching around the globe. Just back from a trip to Capri (where she was a guest at Giovanna Battaglia and Oscar Engelbert’s Italian wedding extravaganza), Nonoo took a moment to catch up with us and talk all things jet-set.

What’s your summer vacation destination? Just returned from a spectacular few days in Capri where we lunched at Lo Scoglio on a nearby island called Nerano.

What’s your favorite hotel in the world? Le Sirenuse in Positano for its spectacular views.

Most luxurious hotel bathroom you’ve ever seen? The bathrooms at The Connaught in London are pretty stellar, as is everything else at the hotel.

Off-season destination of choice? The Hamptons.

Favorite mode of travel? Helicopter.

Best travel shoe? My Aldo Rise flatforms.

Go-to travel outfit: A cotton shirt and navy crepe culottes.

What’s something you would never wear on a plane? I tend to dress casually but still presentably—you never know who you will meet on a plane. Some people I’ve met have since become friends or even colleagues.

Best or worst person you have ever been seated next to on a plane? On a flight back to JFK from Moscow, when I seriously thought the plane might fail and crash, and the gentleman next to me had zero interest in my panic.

Best freebie you’ve stolen off a plane? The Anya Hindmarch bags you used to get on a British Airlines flight. I still have some that I use when travel.

Favorite airport lounge or restaurant? British Airlines lounge at London Heathrow in Terminal 5.

Best beauty products for travel? Bobbi Brown liquid eyeliner, Nars Multiple stick, Elemis SOS Emergency cream.

Name five essential pieces of clothing/accessories you can’t travel without. Cotton Oxford shirt dress, wide legged crepe pants, mini skirt, cotton shirt, and a jumpsuit.

Go-to swimwear brand for this summer? Eres.

Best souvenir you have ever picked up on a trip? A Mexican sombrero.
