Everyone has dreamed about attending Oscars, but those dreams usually involve a designer dress and a half day of pampering. Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel invited a special group to this year's Oscars who didn't get all of that. In fact, they didn't even know they were invited at all. In one the greatest moments of this year's show, Kimmel escorted a group of unsuspecting tourists into the front row of the Dolby Theater, and they reacted the way any of us would when faced with a room full of our favorite celebrities: They took a ton of selfies.
Here's how it happened: Kimmel announced in one of the interlude moments between awards that a group of vacationers on a Hollywood tour bus were arriving to the building, fully unaware that they were about to walk into the world's most legendary award show and be cheered by a theater full of famous faces. Though the group of "regular people," selfie sticks and cell phones in hand, was only on screen for a few moments, a lot went down as they mingled with the actors and actresses seated in the area.
One man, now internationally known as Gary from Chicago, and his fiancé Vicki were among the lucky visitors, and they particularly made the most of the experience. Gary greeted Nicole Kidman with a kiss on the hand.
His bride-to-be did what anyone would do after receiving a kiss on the cheek from Ryan Gosling.
And when Vicki shouted out Denzel Washington as her favorite actor and Kimmel asked if the actor would be willing to be the best man at their upcoming wedding, the Best Actor nominee did them one better by standing up to "marry" them right there in the middle of the Oscars. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Kiss the bride," Denzel said straight into their cell phone video in an abridged ceremony that's about as official as they come. Another couple of newlyweds on the tour later said, unfortunately, Washington wasn't available to officiate their nuptials. Same.
Gary got to take a selfie with Best Supporting Actor winner Mahershala Ali and an actual Oscar.
And finally, Vicki was gifted a pair of Jennifer Aniston's sunglasses that she'll no doubt wear every day for the rest of her life.
