In 2002, Christina Aguilera effectively transformed from teenybopper to a sexually empowered adult when she released Stripped, her fourth album that arrived with a black-and-white, topless image of Aguilera on its cover and the brazen single “Dirrty,” which shocked a good portion of her fan base—including a young Demi Lovato. But following her own embrace of her sexuality with her 2015 album Confident, Lovato decided to go the full Aguilera, shooting the cover for her album, Tell Me You Love Me, out this Friday, in black and white. “I really tried to have my own Stripped,” Lovato said recently. “I’ve never done a black-and-white album photo shoot before, and I thought it was time and would be really fitting,” she added of her latest, which she described as “more mature and more raw” than her previous records—which is saying something for Lovato, who, much to the delight of her millions of fans, has always been open about issues like alcohol and drug addiction, which she addresses for the first time in the songs on Tell Me You Love Me. Take a peek at the outtakes from her album cover shoot before she bares even more on Friday, here.
