All around town, galleries are taking advantage of the art world’s imminent arrival with a slew of splashing openings, from portraits by Cindy Sherman and Mary Ellen Mark to drawings by Alex Katz and Tracey Emin to installations by James Turrell and Felix Gonzalez-Torres.
