The unofficial US Open dress code may call for tennis whites and preppy polos, but that won’t stop Kaia Gerber from showing up in a little black dress. Still, the model-turned-actor has a way of making her signature silhouette tennis-appropriate.

On Tuesday evening, Gerber attended the 2026 US Open exhibition honoring legend Roger Federer in New York City. At first glance, she appeared to stick to a familiar outfit formula: a sleek, body-hugging V-neck slip with a low scoop back. But upon closer inspection, the dress had a thematically sporty twist. Created by New York-based designer Yana Matkivski, the piece—dubbed the Donna—is inspired by vintage bathing suits. Made of dense viscose ponte knit, it features a bodysuit construction with an integrated pencil skirt. Its technical elements, like a built-in internal liner, sculpt the body and offer just the right amount of stretch—fitting for an athlete on the go. Naturally, Gerber dressed things up with luxury-leaning accessories, including a pair of oversized Khaite x Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Le Silla mules, and a tiger-print Fendi baguette.

The Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York event celebrated the Grand Slam-winning champ four years after his retirement with two exhibition matches at Arthur Ashe Stadium. For the courtside outing, Gerber watched alongside her The Shards co-star—and fellow Gen Z scion—Homer Gere. He, too, looked polished in an unbuttoned collared shirt and a black blazer. With Gerber by his side in a similar eveningwear ensemble, the pair once again evoked co-star synchronicity.

Throughout the press tour for The Shards, Gerber has pushed the limits of the typical LBD—donning everything from a shredded Fendi couture gown to a ’90s-inspired Gucci two-piece. Styled by Emma Jade Morrison, her latest look once again shows the shapeshifting powers of a perfect black dress. When you’re Kaia Gerber, it can take you from posing at a red carpet premiere to sipping Honey Deuces at a sports stadium.
