Last weekend, while most of us were making headway on our holiday shopping, a select group—well, 200—of festively mobile folks decamped to the Gstaad Palace Hotel in Switzerland to help the members only travel and social club ASMALLWORLD celebrate its 10th anniversary. The multi-day event, orchestrated by Sabine Heller and Patrick Liotard-Vogt (chief executive and president, respectively, of ASMALLWORLD), included a decadent dinner at Gildo’s restaurant, late night dancing at local hotspot GreenGo and a chairlift-accessed fondue luncheon. But the piece de resistance was the charity gala Saturday evening, hosted by Carey Mulligan and benefiting her chosen charity, War Child, which provides support to children in high conflict zones around the world. An international coterie including the actresses Dianna Agron, Caitlin Fitzgerald and Alma Jodorowsky and party mainstays like Pixie Geldof, Leigh Lezark, Tali Lennox and Chelsea Leyland partook of a five course meal which was topped off by whimsical cake balls floating in silver balloons (guests had to pop them to receive their treats), courtesy of the Flour Shop’s Amira Kassem. The night raised $100,000 for War Child. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more successful holiday gift than that.
