My favorite thing to do each January is refresh my closet by replacing my worn-out basics with new ones. There’s something satisfying about throwing away those thinning socks, donating or recycling pilled sweaters and starting the year with a few new core pieces. You’d be surprised at how much of a difference a pristine white T-shirt or crisp pair of socks makes—both in terms of your mood and your look. These five Amazon finds are the perfect pieces to start 2021 off on the right foot. (Need more ideas for closet workhorses? Check out these editor-approved picks.)

Hanes T-Shirts

A crisp, classic t-shirt always makes me feel more put together. These Hanes t-shirts are the perfect closet staple. I’m a fan of the men’s style, for their perfectly boxy shape and fit. $15,

Hue Tights

There’s nothing worse than reaching into your drawer to find that all of your tights have rips and runs. These Hue tights have the feel of luxury hosiery at an easier price. $9,

Amazon Essentials Turtleneck

Turtlenecks are my winter closet staple. Something about a sleek navy makes it look like you actually put more thought into getting dressed that day than you actually did. $25,

Kikita Crew Socks

When I did this year’s overhaul, I found that my sock drawer was completely full of socks that I push aside just to find the favorites at the bottom. After a long but necessary edit, I ended up with the classic black, white, brown and then filtered in some of these fun Kikiya Women’s crew socks in bright colors. $16,

Amazon Essentials Cardigan

By now, I have pretty much perfected my work from home look: track pants and a cardigan. I have been changing up my usual neutral cardigans for some pops of color—this red one from Amazon essentials is the perfect shade. $25,
