Charlotte Rampling and Tilda Swinton Are Objects of Art

Katerina Jebb

With their unconventional, beguiling looks, Charlotte Rampling and Tilda Swinton have long been the subjects of many a memorable photograph. Now the audacious actresses are flipping the script, starring as human easels in a performance running through October 2 at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Conceived by the fashion curator Olivier Saillard, “Sur-exposition” features the pair holding, and interacting with, portraits and landscapes by legendary photographers like Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Brassaï, ultimately emerging as works of art themselves.
