It’s an interesting season for the athletically-inclined: it’s never been easier to outfit yourself in high-end track suits, throwback velour, and workout sneakers. In other words, we’ve achieved Peak Athleisure. Donatella Versace improved upon the zeitgeist with her Spring 2017 collection, which took place on Friday in Milan. Pairing familiar drawstring hems with aquamarine silks and satins and contrasting tattered hems with exposed midriffs, Versace sought to disrupt the conventional sportswear narrative. Recruiting Serena Williams for her front row, therefore, was a deliciously canny move.
