“For his spring 2014 Chanel show, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a huge art gallery, with installations that looked like actual works for sale. Finally, a bag big—and chic—enough to hold all my stuff!”

“I was leaving the Rodarte show in New York with my friend the artist Maurizio Cattelan. Suddenly, all these photographers were taking my picture. Maurizio was like, ‘Giovanna, are you famous?’ and started jumping up and down behind them.”

“These stingray shoes from the Italian designer Marco de Vincenzo’s spring show are just killer! On the feet, they look kind of mean—spiky and futuristic. But if you put them together in a wheel, like this, with all the colors, they bring to mind a beautiful origami flower.”

“The day after the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, where many of the models wore headpieces, I found these handmade gold emperor crowns at the store L’Oro dei Farlocchi. It was kismet.”

5

“I had lunch with the creative director Christine Thomas at Sant Ambroeus, in New York. She had never been there, and when she asked if her dress was okay, I said, ‘It’s perfect!’ I knew she would match the seating.”

“The jewelry designer Sue Gragg sent me this amazing scarf she had made using a print of me by Hayden Williams. Normally, I’m not a fan of logos, but this is fine because I’m the logo. I’m my own favorite brand.”

“I was at a meeting in Milan, when I spotted this book of photos of Sophia Loren from different films. The cover is so great—it reminds me of Federico Fellini’s Satyricon. To be honest, I thought of stealing it—but only for a split second.”
