“Normally, I think it’s supercheesy to take a photograph with a celebrity. But I made a huge exception when I saw Cher at the Balmain show in Paris. She’s a living legend! When I asked, she said to me, ‘Darling, be quick, I have to go to the next show.’ I wanted to say, ‘I’m coming with you!’”
“There is a fantastic exhibition called ‘Paris Haute Couture’ at the Hôtel de Ville. These pieces by Vionnet and Schiaparelli [left, from top] were my favorites. I love the contrast between minimalism and opulence. And they look so modern.”
“I got these French porcelain sculptures [left] at an antiques store in Milan. They’re from the ’20s and look like a Jacques Henri Lartigue photo in 3-D. I put them in my library with some of my fashion books. It’s like my portable beach!”
“Dezso jewelry designer Sara Beltrán was inspired by India for fall. So she did a show of photos she took of Indian men wearing her pieces. I thought it was so cool to mix her modern jewelry with their own style.”
“I was at the Equipment party in Paris, and in walked the model Hanne Gaby Odiele, who had opened the Saint Laurent show earlier that day. I was like, ‘The star is here!’ When I told her to give me a look, she pulled that bandanna over her face. It’s very rock ’n’ roll—the essence of the Saint Laurent show.”
“My boyfriend, Vlad, has this amazing Doug Aitken piece in his gallery. It made me think of all the iPhones I’ve accidentally broken, so I said, ‘I want to smash this phone.’ To which Vlad replied, ‘If you smash it for real, I’m going to make you pay for it!’ ”
