Inside Kanye West Collaborator Mathias Augustyniak’s First Art Exhibition

When Mathias Augustyniak isn’t working with brands such as Loewe, Calvin Klein, and Jil Sander at the head of his creative agency, MM Paris, he draws. Constantly. Go to a bar with Augustyniak, and you’ll leave with a custom coaster or a scribble on the back of your receipt. So it makes sense that his first art exhibition, entitled “à voir déjà vu,” at Air de Paris gallery, is a series of felt-tip pen drawings he’s created over the past year. Augustyniak has articulated his own way of seeing, combining language with the human figure, in this series of women and men that is currently on view through March 18. Included here (but not on view at the gallery) are Augustyniak’s personal drawings of Kanye West, with whom he occasionally collaborates.
