Jamie Hawkesworth’s Russia Gets the Spotlight in Jonathan Anderson’s London Gallery

Though he’s become something of an industry favorite, Jamie Hawkesworth has never considered himself a fashion photographer — he first got in the field, after all, by photographing the dead bodies he was meant to examine as an up-and-coming forensic analyst. That documentarian-meets-emotional approach, though, is exactly what’s earned Hawkesworth a following in the fashion world. It’s also how images of corrugated sheet metal and ominously brown water ended up on display this week in J. W. Anderson Workshops, Jonathan Anderson‘s creative and commercial space in London, rather than the usual fashion fanfare. Titled “An Endless Rhythm,” the exhibition showcases Hawkesworth’s honest snapshots from Russia alongside his similarly spare charcoal drawings. Get a glimpse, here.
