Tom and Ruth Chapman, the co-founders and joint chairmen of MatchesFashion.com, raised a glass to the beaming Roksanda Ilincic last night at Lower East Side hotspot Le Turtle, as the retailer and designer celebrated their exclusive capsule collection. The Brits were out in full force to honor Ilincic, including Christopher Kane, who was in town for a few days, and Jonathan Saunders, who, as the new creative director for Diane Von Furstenberg, recently made the West Village his home. As she toasted Ilincic, Ruth Chapman’s voice quivered as she asked her guests to also take a moment to think of those no longer with us – a reference to her friend, the designer Richard Nicoll, who had passed away unexpectedly the week before. The crowd toasted to both, and enjoyed each others’ company, catching up on news and Halloween plans from both sides of the pond.
