Artist Sara Greenberger Rafferty Has Made An Aggressively Un-Instagrammable Exhibition
Online shopping, sorting your closet, reading, journaling—there’s a reason that these solitary activities don’t show up on anyone’s Instagram. Sara Greenberger Rafferty, however, has great use for banality. In the artist’s new solo exhibition, “New Works: Dresses and Books,” opening Sunday at Rachel Uffner Gallery in New York, the artist has encased images of these private rituals in plastic, exposing them for public consumption. Seen like this, there’s a certain clinical dissatisfaction to our everyday lives, not unlike receiving, at the end of your prison sentence, a plastic baggie of your meager possessions.
