Marble Madness
The surfboard goes high-end in Alexander Wang and Haydenshapes’s new SoHo installation.
Black sand, a leather bucket bag, and marble surfboards can only mean one thing: it’s officially summer in the world of Alexander Wang. To the delight of monochrome fans everywhere, a Wang-ified beach is now on view at The Cage, an installation space in the designer’s SoHo store. Co-designed by the Wang team and Australian surf brand Haydenshapes, #TheCage22, as it is named, is complete with a black wave sculpture and five marble-printed surfboards hand-crafted by Haydenshapes’s founder Hayden Cox. “This installation has a good sense of authenticity about it,” he explained.
