Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour provided the inspiration for the romantic beauty look at Joseph Altuzarra’s Spring 2015 runway show. To turn the vision into a reality, makeup artist Tom Pecheux created an army of chic French dolls with satin finish faces, rosy cheeks, and penciled-in brows. Using a warm hue called Seasonally Peach from MAC’s upcoming Spring 2015 lip and cheek palette, he extended the lip line to create fuller “doll lips.” On the eyes, he placed one false lash in the center of the top eyelid and piled on black mascara to the center of the lower lashes. “We want the girls to look like a psycho doll,” he said. For the hair, stylist Odile Gilbert used Kerastase Laque Noire Spray and hair nets to create classic, slicked-back chignons. “We’re doing everything the old fashioned way,” she explained. Manicurist Michelle Saunders kept the nails simple: one coat of Essie’s Spaghetti Strap ($8.50, essie.com) and the girls were complete.
