A New Ariana Grande Album Will Be Here Within 17 Days

Needless to say, Arianators are ecstatic: “I knew we’d get a vaccine this year.”

For the past month, Ariana Grande has devoted her Twitter entirely to encouraging her followers to vote. Even last week’s update that she’d wrapped several mixes concluded with a Bernie Sanders-esque “reminding u again to register to vote if u haven’t already / to vote early.” But at exactly noon on Wednesday, Grande made an abrupt return to her usual programming; with no preamble, despite knowing it would send her fans into cardiac arrest, she tweeted “i can’t wait to give u my album this month.”

Needless to say, Arianators are ecstatic. And Grande has been keeping a watchful eye on their replies. The 27-year-old has been steadily liking her fans’ reactions, many of which, like “ARITOBER PURRRRRRRR,” are in all-caps. (To give you an idea of just how much Grande has sent them into a frenzy, two of the tweets she’s so far liked are from fans claiming they’re about to “shit [their] pants.”)

While she’s clearly been active on Twitter, Grande has yet to provide additional details in a follow-up tweet. But the fact that she hasn’t deleted the tweet, as some feared, seems to suggest that an album is indeed on the way. In fact, if Grande keeps her word, it’ll be here within 17 days.

The untitled studio album, which will be Grande’s sixth, comes on the heels of “thank u, next,” which was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. It remains to be seen if Grande will be able to replicate that success; thanks in large part to the titular single, it set the record for a pop album’s largest streaming week, and made Grande the first solo artist to hold down the top three Billboard Hot 100 spots simultaneously.
