When Giorgio Armani landed in Tokyo in November, he was greeted like a rock star. The reason? He opened the world’s biggest Armani store. Located inside a striking new 12-story tower in the upscale Ginza district, the shop offers several Armani lines, as well as the world’s first Armani Spa, an Italian restaurant and a bar. And over the next few years, the designer hopes to expand his Japanese presence with a hotel and private Armani-branded residences. “This is an homage to Japan and Ginza, a reference point that will have a trickle-down effect on other brands and stores,” Armani told Women’s Wear Daily, W’s sister publication.
