A Blow Out at Barneys

The department store opens its first hair salon.

The exploding blow-dry bar trend is about to receive a serious jolt of sophistication on October 8th when Barneys opens its first hair since it relocated to midtown in the early 90s. Located on the store’s lower beauty level, B3 Blow Bar will be helmed by hairstylist Valery Joseph, whose empire already includes four salons on New York’s Upper East Side and a seasonal summer lair in Bridgehampton. Along with blow-outs, B3 will offer cuts and extensions, but, sorry, no color.

Joseph is also going philanthropic next month: If you have 10 inches of hair to spare and are ready to embrace the chop, starting October 8, on Wednesdays and Sundays you can get a free haircut at his 1044 Madison Avenue location. Cut hair will be donated to Locks of Love.
