With Rachel Bilson doing a line for DKNY Jeans, Avril Lavigne creating one for Kohl’s and Pete Wentz designing for his Clandestine Industries, one might think there were enough celeb fashion collections out there to satisfy pop culture vultures. Not so, it seems. In early June Charlotte, North Carolina–based retailer Belk partnered with Kristin Davis (Charlotte from Sex and the City) to launch an exclusive clothing and accessories line. “I grew up shopping at Belk,” the South Carolina native told WWD. “It was the nicest store we had, and I’d save my allowance to go to Belk.” Her deal came hot on the heels of news that James Todd Smith (aka LL Cool J) had signed on with Sears to make casual wear for juniors, young men, girls and boys. The rapper-actor, who also designs his own men’s brand, Todd Smith, is confident he has what it takes. As he told WWD, “I was raised by a matriarch, I have a wife and three daughters, so I know what women are looking for when they shop for clothes.”
