Only a week before Art Basel, Rodriguez was flipping through the now-famous issue with his girlfriend “who is slightly obsessed with the Kardashians” and she jokingly suggested that he paint himself silver. Conveniently, Rodriguez was also being shadowed by a reporter for the Miami New Times, so he called up and said, “You’ve got to let me do the full spread, pose for pose, like Kim Kardashian. You’ve got to get the silver paint. We’ve got to do this right.” And they did.
