With everything from Twin Peaks to Gilmore Girls getting the reboot treatment, the world can't help but wonder: What's next? Turns out Blake Lively has some ideas. She wouldn't mind slipping back into Serena Van Der Woodsen's boho chic wardrobe. That is, if the opportunity arrived.
Lively, who was recently named one of this year's Variety Power of Women honorees, shared with the publication that a Gossip Girl revival is by no means off the table — but it isn't exactly in the works either.
"I don't know. Why not?" Lively told Variety. "It sort of all depends. Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much. But I've just learned in life you never say never."
Lively, of course, has two children with Ryan Reynolds, but she's not the only former Upper East Sider who's grown up in some pretty significant ways and would have to arrange some baby sitting service to make room in her schedule for the show. Leighton Meester, who played Blair Waldorf, has since wed O.C. heartthrob Adam Brody and given birth to a baby girl. And everyone's favorite lonely boy is lonely no more — Penn Badgley recently married Domino Kirke, sister of Girls actress Jemima Kirke.
And even though Lively has expanded her horizons beyond the New York City skyline, she did note that a Gossip Girl revival is of interest, particularly because of the good experience she had working on the original series.
"I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows — if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City."
This isn't the first time Lively has toyed with the idea of returning to her uptown girl roots. Last July, the actress seemed excited when asked by E! whether the show could ever return.
"I don't know, it would be fun," she said at the time. "We had such a great time doing that that I think we would all enjoy that."
She's right — we would all enjoy that. But for now, the word on a Gossip Girl reboot is just gossip, girl. XOXO.
