It Trend, It Girl: A Brand-New Hue

Model-actress Camille Rowe Pourcheresse slips into fall’s jewel-toned palette.

Camille Rowe Pourcheresse has always wanted a uniform. The model and Chloé fragrance-campaign star missed out on it as a schoolgirl at the cosmopolitan Sections Internationales de Sèvres in Paris, where she grew up. But the 21-year-old daughter of René Pourcheresse, the restaurateur behind the legendary Quai Ouest and the wildly successful Tokyo Eat in the Palais de Tokyo museum, is making up for it as a New York transplant. By day she sports jeans and oversize T-shirts (Acne and American Apparel, respectively); at night she pairs Sixties-inspired dresses nabbed on vintage shopping sprees with “ridiculous heels,” like a recent pair of color-blocked Fendis—a head start on fall’s richly hued accents, such as this boldly colored Marni fur (above).

You won’t find Rowe Pourcheresse trotting out her effortlessly glam looks at the Boom Boom Room, though. This East Village dweller prefers her bars dive-y, like the Lower East Side’s Madame Wong’s, or St. Jerome’s, with its smoke machines and projections of Seventies porn. She has an equally low-key approach to her career. After taking screenwriting classes in France and acting in Romain Gavras’s film Our Day Will Come, she is now embracing the spontaneity of her modeling life. “I’m so young, and it’s something I’m just enjoying,” she says. “Fashion is so quick—one day and it’s gone. I kind of like that.”
