All Night Long with the CFDA

There are quite a few CFDA Awards parties: First comes cocktails, full of nerves and tip toeing around dresses. Then there is the after party, in the lobby following the Awards. Finally, as host James Corden noted, there is the “real party,” this year held at the Top of the Standard Hotel. Designers, editors, celebrities and other fashion world VIPs like Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, Grimes, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Alexander Wang showed up for that part of the evening. “Being in this room with all of these people is like the most magical feeling because you know everyone here is passionate about the industry,” said designer Jonathan Simkhai. “There’s nothing like it, just seeing everyone who supported me and that I’ve supported throughout the years. It’s everything.” Over the course of the celebration, Gigi Hadid caught up with Karlie Kloss, singer Jhene Aiko performed, and Coco Rocha tried to remember how many times she had attended the awards. “The best part is how many people have come up to me and been like, ‘You were one of my first dates!’ ‘You were my date!’ ‘You were my first date!’” she said laughing. “I’m like, Wow I got around!”
