Beauty with attitude has always been Charlize Theron's M.O., as evidenced by her roles in everything from Monster to Mad Max: Fury Road to her upcoming role in Atomic Blonde. And she carries this aura with her off-screen and onto the red carpet for her many public appearances. This weekend was no exception, when the actress slash philanthropist attended the 2017 American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) Hong Kong gala in a sequin Saint Laurent gown cinched with leather belt.
The 41-year-old mother of two showed off her stunning figure with a deep v-neck strapless bustier, accessorizing with minimal jewelry and laid-back beauty, as to really let the dress do the talking. In sum, the look is a perfect marriage of both Saint Laurent's rough around the edges sex appeal—now championed by Anthony Vaccarello—and Theron's own glamorous yet daring personality. Going forward, we think this might be the winning brand for her.
Who: Charlize Theron
When: Saturday, March 25, 2017
Where: The 2017 American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) Hong Kong gala at Shaw Studios in Hong Kong.
What: The actress wore a sequin Saint Laurent gown with an '80s-inspired silhouette paired with strappy pumps and a clutch. No need for jewels when your dress has that much shine.
Why: With glitter being the most unlikely trend for Spring 2017, Theron thankfully demonstrates that it's possible to show a little shimmer, while also maintaining some sophistication. This sequin Saint Laurent number is nicely juxtaposed with a hard leather belt, adding some rock 'n' roll attitude to an otherwise feminine silhouette. The piece was practically made for Theron, and no one could pull it off better.
