There's a reason celebrities can't get enough of the lob, a shoulder-length hairstyle. It's universally flattering, and typically merits universally flattering headlines, as well. The latest celebrity to jump on the bandwagon is Ciara. The singer and expectant mother debuted her new shoulder-grazing cut this week on Instagram, after spending most of 2016 with long blonde ombréd hair.
It seems the expectant mother (and newlywed) wanted something more fun and flirty to ring in the new year, and a darker hue for the winter months. She posted a video to Instagram showing off the new cut, captioning the video, "I'm Good I'm Good I'm Great," quoting The Weeknd song "Party Monster."
It's not the first time Ciara has rocked shorter hair. The singer has often changed up her look with shoulder-length (or sometimes shorter) locks. Most recently, she debuted a sleek lob at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
While the lob has been the IT haircut since 2011—and it's 2015 update the "modern shag"— it was 2016 when the messy waves and cropped hair could be spotted on an ever-growing giant list of celebs and fashionistas, including Kendall Jenner, Michelle Obama, and Cara Delevingne. So Ciara and her hair are in great company.
