Club Monaco Goes to Copenhagen

The store opens up a pop up at Noma.

This week, Noma—which currently holds the title of “Best Restaurant in the World”—was host to an unlikely pop up shop: fashion label Club Monaco. But, as the brand’s women’s wear designer, Caroline Belhumeur, explains, it’s not such a surprising partnership. “Clothing and food are the fundamentals of life!” she said, while arranging vintage books from The Strand, art from Brooklyn, furniture from New York-based artisans and Club Monaco clothing in the concept store. “We’re bringing our slice of the New York experience to Copenhagen.” According to Belhumeur, Club Monaco’s New York is closely aligned with the Danish city’s aesthetic. “Style in Copenhagen and New York share the common thread of incorporating a great deal of black—I suppose we’re both drawn to the austerity,” she says. “Where we differ is that New Yorkers wear higher heels—in Copenhagen they are a bit more practical.”
